Fats don’t make you Fat!!

Why Fats and Oils are Essential in our Diet?

Fat consumption itself is an essential nutrient for the body.

The general conception of FAT per se is a dangerous one in society of confusion and marketing.

It’s an increasing fact that the medical profession are now evangelising that good fats have a significant impact on our overall wellbeing and general health.

To ensure healthy cells in your body and optimal balance of pro-and anti-inflammatory processes in your gut health, the ratio of omega 3 (Fats associated with decreased inflammation) to omega 6 (Fats associated with increased inflammation) in your nutrition plays a substantial role.

The benefits of Fats are:

  • Increases satiety / fullness
  • Helps absorb soluble essential vitamins in particular A, D, E & K
  • Helps control inflammation
  • Allows for healthy glow of skin and strong nails
  • Helps with the management of depression, as a strong provider of Omega 3.
  • Helps with brain development and the nervous pathways
  • Enhances the taste of food
  • Fats support the immune system

Low quality plant oils have the potential to lead to fragile cell walls, in particular in your inner body with the potential to build the base for chronic inflammation.

Fat consumption itself is an essential nutrient for the body.

There are so many commercially available fats available for general consumption used in every day cooking, in general supermarkets such as Vegetable oils, Canola Oils, Peanut Oils, Sunflower oils, Rice Bran Oils, Cottonseed Oils, Soybean Oils.  These seed oils are the cheapest, yet not the best solution for your health as they contain mostly omega 6 dominant and other phytochemicals in large quantities which cause inflammation, poor gut health, poor mental wellbeing and can be related to other serious medical conditions such as type 2 diabetics, cancers and heart disease.

Healthy fat choices are Omega 3 dominant, of which include whole fruits like olives and avocados.

The preferred choice of Fats to use for cooking are animal fats such as Grass Feed Butter / Ghee / Lard / Meat Fats and Tallow, not only are good for the food preparation but also absorption for healthy guts and wellbeing.
